First, let me say that what you find on this site is actual problems that I have found and fixed on these homes. Your home and circumstance may be similar. However, it will be unique to your house. So, by comparison, this is considered free advice and free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it, absolutely nothing.

Please don’t try to use these examples to repair your situation unless you are sure they will work for your situation, especially if you don’t have the experience to know what to do.

Also, my motto is: Safety first, quality second and quantity third, with a touch of common sense mixed in with all of it. Because if at the end of the day, you have something to redo or fix, you have lost your progress. If you or one of your helpers got hurt, no progress can make up for that. Please practice safe construction methods. Don’t cut corners on safety, heck don’t cut corners on anything. Use the right tools and hardware for the job and always check everything twice before moving forwards.

Mickey Goodyear + Lands End Construction

I am Mickey Goodyear. I own Lands End Construction and have been in business doing new construction and repairs like these for over 30 years and have been in the construction field most of my life. I use a common sense approach to things, find it before it’s a problem and fix it with the best materials and techniques that are available.

Maintenance or Repair

So, let’s talk about your home for a minute. You have no real cost effective choice. You either do home maintenance or home repair. Maintenance is much easier and cheaper. Like Nike says Just Do it. It just makes common sense to do it before it gets worse. Home repairs are only done when home maintenance is not done in a timely manner and it is much more expensive.

Ignorance or Neglect

Weather you own an older home that has been ignored too long or a new one that the contractor cut a few corners or just plain didn’t know how to build a part of it to stand the test of time. You are in charge of keeping it up or paying the price of neglect or from just the ignorance of not knowing what to do.

That’s where I come in. As you may have guessed, I’m Mickey. Hello it’s nice to meet you.

More About Me

I’ve been in construction most of my life and have owned a construction/repair business for the last 35+ years. My grandfather built every house he lived in for as long as I can remember. He had my brothers and I doing construction work as early as the age of 7. He figured if you were going live with him, you were going work like he did even if all you could do was carry a board, sling blade down the weeds or straighten bent nails.

Out of necessity, I have repaired things that most folks would have given up on and thrown away. I built my home from old Limehouse Train Station that I disassembled and shipped 100 miles and used the materials to build my home, and yes it’s true, the carpenter’s home is never done. 30 years later and I’m still finishing it. Mainly because I’m doing most of it out of pocket and mostly alone, with a little help from my friends. Also, because some of the finishing touches are rather unique, to say the least.

That’s enough about me. You want to know just what the heck I can do for you. I can teach you how to walk around your home and spot something now, that will turn into a problem in time. I can teach you how to either do it yourself, or how to find the right repair person to fix it and how to talk to them to get the best results. Or you can hire me to do the necessary repairs.

So, welcome to my site and thank you for dropping in.
